Record Prisoner Swap Precedes Ukraine’s Heaviest Russian Bombardment

by admin477351

Sunday witnessed a pivotal prisoner exchange between Russia and Ukraine, the largest of the ongoing conflict, bringing 1,000 detainees home. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed the return of 303 Ukrainian defenders, a fragile yet significant result from recent peace negotiations.

However, this moment of relief was swiftly eclipsed by an unprecedented Russian aerial assault. Ukrainian cities endured their “sleepless night” as 367 drones and missiles rained down from Kyiv to Mykolaiv. The barrage, the most extensive of the war, tragically claimed at least 12 lives, including three children, and caused extensive damage to homes and infrastructure, leaving communities devastated.

Despite the humanitarian efforts of the prisoner swap, the war’s brutal reality persists. Frontline fighting continues relentlessly, and both nations maintain their deep strike capabilities, underscoring the deep divisions and unresolved nature of this protracted conflict.
