Stellar has announced the successful completion of UF Health Durbin Park, a significant healthcare campus spanning 42.5 acres in St. Johns County, Florida. This development marks a major expansion of medical services in Northeast Florida, aimed at enhancing access to advanced healthcare for the region’s growing population.
The initial phase of this $1 billion investment includes a three-story, 72,000-square-foot medical office building and a five-story, 220,000-square-foot hospital. These facilities are strategically located in the rapidly expanding Durbin Park community. Stellar served as the primary construction manager for the project, collaborating with Gresham Smith, which led the design efforts.
Among the services offered at the UF Health Durbin Park Medical Office Building 1 are specialties such as general surgery, gynecology, heart and vascular care, laboratory services, neurology, neurosurgery, orthopedics, outpatient rehabilitation, pain management, and urology. Adjacent to it, the UF Health Durbin Park Hospital features 99 inpatient beds and a 24-hour emergency department, providing acute, intensive, and emergency care, as well as advanced imaging and hybrid laboratories for interventional procedures. Stellar managed the hospital project in conjunction with Batson-Cook Construction.
Additionally, Stellar oversaw the construction of a standalone central energy plant, which provides essential infrastructure support to the entire campus. This project is expected to create approximately 2,000 jobs, further contributing to the economic growth of the area.
The completion of UF Health Durbin Park further solidifies Stellar’s reputation in managing major healthcare construction projects and strengthens its partnership with UF Health. This development is poised to enhance healthcare services for residents of St. Johns County and Jacksonville, addressing the needs of a burgeoning population.
