Trump to Review Advisers’ Work for Bosnia’s Republika Srpska Government

by admin477351

Former U.S. President Donald Trump has distanced himself from two senior political advisers, Chris LaCivita and James Blair, following reports of their work as paid consultants for the government of Republika Srpska, a Serb-majority entity within Bosnia and Herzegovina. Trump clarified that LaCivita, who co-managed his 2024 presidential campaign, and Blair, a former White House deputy chief of staff, are independent consultants and are not directly employed by him beyond that role.

LaCivita and Blair reportedly traveled to Republika Srpska to provide political assistance ahead of recent local elections, receiving substantial payments for their services. Despite their advisory roles in Trump’s political campaigns and efforts to support Republican candidates for the U.S. midterm elections, Trump emphasized that they are free to work for other clients. However, he noted that he would review their external activities to ensure there is no conflict of interest.

The advisors’ involvement with a foreign government has raised concerns about potential conflicts with their political work in the United States. LaCivita has been instrumental in Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign, while Blair has served in various political roles, including as a senior adviser. Blair is currently on leave from his White House duties but is active in supporting Republican election initiatives, with plans to return to the White House post-midterms.

This situation has prompted scrutiny over the external consulting engagements of political advisers who maintain close affiliations with Trump’s political endeavors while holding or being connected to government positions. Trump reiterated his commitment to addressing any conflicts that may arise from such dual engagements.
